hopping for furniture online has just got a whole lot easier as Amazon is launching an AR tool which allows you to see how furniture and home decor pieces will look in your home. What sets Amazon’s new AR tool apart from other similar applications is it allows the user to view multiple items at once, allowing the user to design a whole room right from their smartphone.

The feature is available on thousands of products offered by both Amazon and third-party sellers and can be accessed by clicking the “view in your room” button on eligible listings.

This new feature on the Amazon app is an innovative way for consumers to feel more confident in their purchasing process and allow them to see how multiple pieces will blend together without the need to a store or simply hoping they will work well together when they arrive. The hopes of this is that it will enable consumers to buy a larger amount of products quickly and with confidence.

Although it won’t give consumers the opportunity to try out furniture as they would in a physical shop, it does give them a better understanding of the real life look of pieces providing more convenient online shopping.

Amazon AR Shopping Tool

When speaking about the new AR room decorator shopping tool one Amazon spokesperson stated:

“Amazon is always exploring new ways to create experiences that delight our customers. With the addition of Room Decorator tools, Amazon enhances its augmented reality feature to give customers an even more immersive shopping experience from the comfort of their own home, or on the go… With access to the inspiring furniture styles available on Amazon, customers can do more than just imagine their dream rooms—they can visualise them to make more informed shopping decisions.”

This is not the first time that AR has been featured on the Amazon app, in 2017 Amazon released AR View in the United States which gave consumers a 360 degree look at a singular piece of furniture in any area of their room. Amazon shared the concept of letting consumers see how an item would look against other furniture before making a purchase but this feature was still limited in comparison to this more advanced version being rolled out now.
