R can already feel like a magical experience, particularly if you’re new to the technology. One developer has focused on the mystical and magical potential that this technology has to offer for the ever popular: Magic: The Gathering card game.
The Magic: The Gathering Manager, available now in the App Store, assists players to manage their card inventory by scanning the card and storing information such as prices and games statistics.
The app’s developer has created an AR feature which could bring the cards to life with innovative and creative animations. The app could potentially act as a real-time translator for cards and display other important information.
However, the AR effects are not available and at present remain a concept, but are among the tricks up the developer's sleeve for future updates.
What may seem to be the work of magic is actually the use of sophisticated image recognition technology, available to the mobile developers through ARKit and ARCore, as well as Facebook's camera and third-party platforms.
With an abundance of image recognition tools, card games, posters, comic books, and other forms of print media can become living 3D illusions.
