oel Zimmerman, more commonly known as Deadmau5, and Richie Hawtin have joined forces with a team of game developers and technologists to create a brand new game: PIXELYNX.
The game has been supported by gaming industry veterans Ben Turner, Dean Wilson and Inder Phull. Together the musicians have put their hand in to create an augmented reality universe.
The new gaming platform will be released following the recently completed deal with Niantic, the developers of Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom and Ingress.
PIXELYNX utilises Niantic’s Lightship Platform, as well as the Augmented Reality Developer Kit (ARDK), a tool which enables creators to develop games in augmented reality, which "inspire movement, exploration and connection at a global scale."
The platform will also double as a "virtual world ecosystem" where players are able to track NFTs and create immersive environments. Musicians can also lead virtual performances and playable experiences.
Within the platform, players can collect music, rewards, in-game assets and prizes as they transport to a new virtual world created by Deadmau5 and Hawtin.
Speaking on PIXELYNX, Co-Founder Inder Phull stated:
“As we look towards launching our platform in 2022, the development of a mobile app that allows fans to collect new songs and NFTs in the real world was always part of our vision to create the music metaverse.”
Phull continued:
“Teaming with Niantic on their Lightship ARDK to develop our mobile gaming app, will ensure that fans are able to take our game with them wherever they go, blending digital and real-world experiences and enriching the fan experience in completely unique ways,”
