he coronavirus has impacted different industries and for the motor industry, allowing customers into the dealership has become increasingly difficult. To overcome this barrier, Ford has developed an AR tool which lets car enthusiasts see how a brand new Ford F-150 pickup would look parked on their drive or shrunk down in their living room without leaving their homes.
The 2021 F-150 is expected to reach dealerships this Autumn but until then, customers can access the new AR tool through their smartphones using WebAR to project the new F-150 anywhere, realistic or not.
The AR tool works seamlessly and allows customers to resize and rotate the Ford F-150 to see how it would work in spaces where it otherwise wouldn’t fit. The AR experience also allows you to scale down the pickup to a toy sized model F-150.
This WebAR experience is an innovative marketing example by Ford to showcase and promote the release of the new 2021 F-150 launched in late June and expected to reach dealerships this Autumn with basic models starting at around $30,000 and over $70,000 for the top of the range models.
