he Goo Goo Dolls have announced more details of their upcoming Augmented Reality movie musical “It’s Christmas All Over” which shares the name of their holiday album and the source of their inspiration.
In the movie, the Goo Goo Dolls travel through the past, present and future, searching for the lost Spirit of Christmas. On their search, the band travel through city streets, subways and land themselves on the set of The Ed Sullivan Show, where they perform classic Christmas songs as well as tracks from their holiday album. The message of the movie is that even though we're all being kept apart by our current situation, we're all unified by the true meaning of Christmas.
In a statement, Goo Goo Dolls lead singer John Rzeznik stated:
"It was such an amazing experience getting to play songs from our new record live for the first time. We can’t wait for everyone to see and hear these Christmas tunes in this unique way, and we hope they bring some cheer to this peculiar holiday season. The Augmented Reality movie musical was recorded in October and developed on the live streaming platform FanTracks and debuts globally on December 12, 7pm ET, however, FanTrack subscribers can get an exclusive preview the day before.
