ibson has created the ‘Epic’ Gibson App, claiming it is “the only guitar app you will need”. The app features some impressive-sounding elements, including Audio Augmented Reality as well as the ability to book a consultation with a Gibson guitar tech.
The Gibson app will be available on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, although additional hardware is required, but once you have headphones and your favourite axe you’re ready to rock!
The new app is completely free to download and use, however, there is a fee for guitar lessons. A 14-day free trial is available on songs by artists including The Beatles, Foo Fighters, Aerosmith, Billie Eilish and Dolly Parton to name a few.
Those who download the app will also receive a free one-on-one consultation with a Gibson pro guitar tech in the form of a video call on your device and covers basic guitar tune-up and maintenance tasks.
Another helpful feature is the in-built tuner, which assists in alternate tunings and chromatic tunings, too. App users also get a direct broadcast to the Gibson TV YouTube channel, packed with amazing content.
But perhaps the best part of the Gibson app, comes in the form of augmented reality technology, which lets users interact directly with the app and not just watch videos. Gibson claims that the app will respond to the user playing as they learn, helping the guitarist to progress more naturally as the virtual lessons become more interactive. The AR lessons cover both acoustic and electric guitar and feature a wide range of styles of music. Users are also encouraged to play along to tabs and receive feedback throughout.
