elix & Paul Studios latest project is a collaboration with The Jim Henson Company on an AR project called The Storyteller: The Seven Ravens. The new offering adds a twist to Jim Henson’s classic The Storyteller television series, as the AR storybook tells an interactive tale of a young girl who sets out on an adventure to save her seven brothers from a curse that turned them into ravens.
The AR book will be narrated by author Neil Gaiman whose work also includes Coraline, American Gods and Wolves in the Walls. But the new tale The Storyteller: The Seven Ravens will enable you to interact and explore the story through the power of AR, although to date, no specifics have been released.
In a company statement, CEO of The Jim Henson Company, Lisa Henson stated:
“Partnering with Felix & Paul Studios on this innovative project will bring our fans even closer to The Storyteller, immersing them into the classic tale of The Seven Ravens like never before.”
Henson continued:
“Through the magic of augmented reality, readers will be both amazed and surprised by how the story comes to life visually and in a truly interactive format. It is also exciting to have Neil Gaiman, the storyteller of our time, lend his voice to this project.”
Felix & Paul Studios, Co-Founder and Creative Director, Paul Raphael had this to say:
“The Seven Ravens is the next step in immersive storytelling, truly bringing a storybook to life… We are lucky to be partnering with The Jim Henson Company and Neil Gaiman on this project and can’t wait to show a sneak preview at this year’s Virtual SIGGRAPH conference.”
The first viewing of The Storyteller: The Seven Ravens will take place during SIGGRAPH’s virtual conference which is taking place this week. Felix & Paul Studios will be giving a presentation called The Future of Storytelling With Object-based AR.
